Cantina della Volta Frizzante La Volta Rosso

$27.00

Christian Bellei's winery in Bomporto is built around one obsession: applying Champagne method to Lambrusco di Sorbara. His father sent him to Reims. His serious wines spend 36+ months on the lees. La Volta Rosso is the conscious departure from all of that — a frizzante, crown cap, meant to be cold and open tonight.

It's still 100% Lambrusco di Sorbara from the alluvial flats of the Secchia river. Same fruit source as his Metodo Classico wines. Different intent entirely. Fermented in steel, bottled young, 11.5% ABV. The producer's own notes describe currant, wild strawberry, cherry, and fresh rose — bright ruby, dry, with enough structure to work against food without demanding it.

This is the answer to every sweet, industrial frizzante rosso that gave the category its reputation. Salumi board, mortadella, a cold glass at the end of the week. Nothing ceremonial required.
