If you missed her the last time then here’s your last chance to meet negociant extraordinaire, Mary Taylor. She’s the brains behind her namesake Mary Taylor Wine project, where she partners with small vignerons around Europe to make classically-styled village level wines that express place perfectly, taste delicious, and don’t cost a bloody fortune. All of her wines are legit and not a single one costs more than $20. This is serious juice but also seriously nerdy party wine. Come get yourself entertained by the indelible Mary Taylor and have a time!
We’re welcoming our dudes from Matchvino back in the store to pour the earthshaking-ly good wines of Poggio la Noce in Tuscany! This new winery project from husband and wife team Enzo Schiano and Claire Beliard who’ve transformed this forgotten estate in Fiesole into one of the most exciting Sangiovese-focused projects in all of Italy. Come in and find out why we’re so obsessed with these amazing bottles and start your weekend off right!
Oh snap! We’ve got Francesco Brigatti himself in the store to showcase his amazing wines! He’s an Alto Piedmonte native who inherited his family estate in 1996 and transformed it into one of our favorite producers in the region. He’s done two amazing things with the estate. First, he converted the farming and the winemaking to organic and natural processes. Second, he started producing mono-varietal wines from the local indigenous grapes, a truly rare thing to see from this region. The results have been astonishing, and this man is to blame. Come meet this hero and try his sick wines, you’ll be glad you did!
We’re excited to be welcoming into the store Antoine Luginbuhl, the winemaker and owner at Casinca di Cornia in Chianti Classico! Antoine reestablished the vineyards at this estate in the early 80s and quickly transitioned it to organics, certified in 1983, making this estate one of the oldest standing organic vineyards in Tuscany. On his 22 hectare estate he produces wines of structure and finesse that perfectly represent place, time, and varietal. We’re super excited for this so make sure you turn out and give him a proper Boston welcome!

Inside Germany, and for producers of Riesling globally, few names inspire awe like the name Peter Lauer. His wines are as amazing as they are experimental and ethereal. Eva Fricke on the other hand is a newcomer to the world of Reisling but has quickly established herself as one of the rising star winemakers of Germany with her mind numbingly delicious dry Rieslings. We’re proud to be now carrying the wines of Bon Raisin, a new importer of Natural Wines into MA. We first met up with these people last winter and we’re blown away by how unique and exciting the wines were. Every wine in their collection comes from a small vignerons that do their own farming and winemaking themselves while adhering to the principles of natural winemaking, meaning nothing added and nothing taken away. Come by and meet Ian Dick, the Bon Raisin ambassador and try out some of their stunning wines!
Here at Bacco’s we think it’s too hot outside and we also think that the best way to solve that problem is open up some amazing Rieslings! That’s why we’re breaking the heat and declaring August the Month of Riesling. All month long we’ll be featuring Riesling from all over the world to try and cool you down and change the way people perceive this industry favorite. For our first week we’re taking a deep dive into what Austria has to offer and showcasing some of the most compelling and delicious producers in the country. Join us from 5-7 between Monday August 5th and Wednesday August 8th to try what we got going on!
When we were in Italy a few months back we were privileged to get to meet the amazing people behind Fiesole’s incredible Poggio la Noce winery. Enzo and Clair’s hospitality was unparalleled and their love for the their land, their grapes, and the little ecosystem they had made was clear at every moment. We’ve not been so moved by a new producer of Sangiovese in quite some time and we’re all excited about the potential of this amazing new winery. If you’re an Italian wine fan, you’re going to need to get to know these wines, pronto!
We’re super excited to have our new friend Mary Taylor in the store to introduce y’all to her amazing line of wines! Mary’s been in the wine trade forever so when she set out to produce her own line of wines she wanted it to fill a gap that she saw in the market. She noticed that there wasn’t enough honestly made, terroir-driven wines that we’re affordable for the average drinker. Enter Mary Taylor Wines! These beauties are delicious, authentic, and expressive of the vintage and the place that they came from and on top of all that they’re all under $20 a pop. Come check us out, meet Mary, and get a glass of real wine!
Our friend and ambassador for Friuli Gemma Iannoni is going to be in house pouring the wines of I Clivi, the best god damn producer in the village. I Clivi produces wines of depth and character while perfectly expressing their unique terroir. We’ll have open a bunch of wines from this maverick producer and we’ll be having a blast, per usual.
Tonight we celebrate one of the coolest, most real, most down to earth, and most excellent of winemakers, Guy Davis, by offering y’all a taste of the new vintages. If you know us, then you know we love Guy. This man has been making naturally vinified organic wines for years and his stuff just keeps getting better and better. We’ll have open some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, of course, but we’ll also be getting his incredible Zinfandel back and pouring some of his Method Champenoise single vineyard sparkling wine of Pinot Noir which most definitely basts most Champagne out of the water. Good wines and good vibes only!
Rose Day is our favorite wine holiday so we’re going all out for it! From 2-7 we’ll be pouring two dozen roses from all over the world, for free, just for you beautiful, beaming people. Natural, organic, hazy, sparkling, Bandol, Provence, Italia, Pet Nat, if it’s Rose, we’ll be pouring it. We’ll also be offering 10% off every Rose in the store for one day, and one day only, so you’ll want to hit this one up.
Well this is going to be amazing! In preparation for Rose Day, hands down our favorite wine holiday, we’ve invited our friends over at Olmstead and Island Creek Oysters to come by and feed you Rose and Caviar just for the hell of it! Olmstead’s own ray of sunshine Brittney is bringing the Rose and the Pet Nat and the glou glou wines, while Lindsay, Island Creek’s resident caviar nerd, is brining the best caviar ICO’s got. This is definitely the most over the top, ostentatious, hedonistic party we’ve ever thrown and we can’t wait!
The good people at Giannoni have hooked us up with some excellent new finds that are pitch perfect for long, beautiful spring days. If you’re planning a cook then this is the tasting for you! Check us out from 5-7 when Giannoni’s own Andrea will be here to pour bottles from all over Italy including Casebianche’s sparkling wines which are literally the greatest BBQ wines of all time. Cin Cin!
The weather is finally shifting which is why James Mucci is here to show off some of his new Spring/Summer hits. He’ll be here from 5-7 to pour two of the wildest Roses from 2018, Bussoletti’s spectacularly lovable party wines, and a sparkling Pignoletto that’s quite literally more fun to drink that any other wine on earth.
Our man Jackson will be in to show off bottles from Mary Taylor and Old Westminster. This one’s all about duality and conflict in wine. While the Mary Taylor wines are classically styled, clean and pristine examples of what regional European wine is about, Old Westmister is bringing Pet Nats, Rose in a can, and Piquette all grown and made in the great state of Maryland. Tradition v. innovation, new v. old, modern v. classical. We’re loving all this drama!
This month were super excited to get to introduce you all to two of South Africa’s best and brightest young winemakers in person! On May 10th we’ll be having Boston’s own Ginny Povall, founder and winemaker at Botanica and Big Flower, and Thinus Kruger of Fram in the store and in the flesh to pour some of their best bottles for you.
Ginny and Thinus represent the best of what this young generation of winemakers are doing in South Africa. Like California, France, Australia, and Chile, a new breed of young winemakers are setting up shop and making wines that challenge our expectations when it comes to their region’s wines. For a long time, South Africa was thought of as a second-rate wine producing country where quality was lacking and conventional agriculture and winemaking reigned. All of that is changing with people like Ginny and Thinus who are taking advantage of the numerous old vineyards and applying a more holistic and hands-off approach to both farming and vinification. Their wines speak to the place and the grapes themselves. They demonstrate that South Africa has great terroir and that that terroir has a unique and special identity. You’ll find clarity and depth in the Chenin and Pinot Noir of Botanica and you’ll find complexity and definition in the Pinotage of Fram.
If you’re a regular at our store then you already know how excited we are about the South African wine scene since we can’t stop talking about it. If you want to see why we’re so enthused then you’ve got to come by and have a chat with these two people. We’ll be pouring the wines from 5-7 on the 10th but we’ll also be featuring the wines all month long in our Winery of the Month series so we’re also offering them all up for 10% off for the month of May. Thanks to our man and South African wine importer and advocate extraordinaire Pascal Schildt for the set up, we’re going to have a hell of a time!
We've got in our favorite natural wine advocates to pour some of the hot new items that have been rolling into MA. Rose? We've got it. Orange wine? We've got that too. Old vine Carignan? You know we've got that! We'll have open bottles from Scribe, Swick, and the indelible Clos Saron to whet your appetite and challenge your expectations.
We’re going to Vinitaly this year with our dudes over at Matchvino! For lovers of great and authentic wines, California can sometimes feel like a wasteland of modified juice, inoculated fermentations, and conventional agriculture which is why people like Robert Sinskey are god damn heroes! This beautiful man has been cultivating 100% certified organic and biodynamic vineyards in Stags Leap and the Los Carneros districts of Napa and Sonoma Valleys for years now and producing tremendous juice in the meantime. The project focuses on Pinot Noirs, crazy delicious, effortlessly balanced Pinot Noirs that make your tastebuds sing, but they also produce some amazing specialties like a Ramato-style orange wine from Pinot Gris. That's right! Napa designated orange wine! And it's out of this world y'all! We'll be pouring that plus some of Bob's other amazing bottles all night so believe us when we say you'll not want to miss this one.
In the world of great wine importers there is one that really changed everything in the United States and it’s the Louis/Dressner portfolio of natural wines. Back before there really was a natural wine movement with all it’s buzzwords and instagram celebrity there we’re just a handful of people trying to introduce Americans to real-ass wine and some of the coolest stuff to ever hit the market came out of this book. We’ve been longtime fans of these beauties so we’re excited to have our man Frank (also a Dressner super fan) in to get excited and pour some world changing juice into your glass. Stay tuned for updates on the line-up.
The other week we're the graced with the charismatic presence of the young natural winemaker Jean Kreydenweiss and we were smitten. Jean's family runs two biodynamic domaines, one in Alsace and the other in Costieres de Nimes, where they produce wines with complexity, depth, balance, and tons of energy. We're super excited to get to show these beauties to you so we're bringing in the local importer of the Kreydenweiss wines to pour their bottles into your glass. Get refreshed!
In 2016 Michael Cruse was named Winemaker of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle for his innovative, novel, and delicious approach to winemaking in Napa and Sonoma. Famous internationally for his cult sparkling wine project Ultramarine, Michael Cruse has positioned himself on the avant garde of American winemaking. His Cruse Wine Co. label focuses on obscure grapes in Napa like Valdiguie and Tannat, grapes not often considered as great Napa wines. In his hands these varietals have found new expression and life. Our man Chas, the exclusive MA importer of Michael’s wines, will be in pouring his Napa Valdiguie, Monkey Jacket Red Blend, Rorick Heritage Vineyard Chardonnay, and his Napa Tannat. These wines will be on sale all month at 10% off so this is your chance to get to know the new Napa at the best price.
We’re excited to be hosting our man Tim from Hangtime Wine Co. this Friday. Tim will be swinging by with some of the coolest bottles of raw wines from their collection hand picked just for you. We’ll have open bottles from Burgundy and Corbieres but we’ll also be pouring some absolutely sick Italian specialties as well. These wines are crazy delicious and you’re gonna want them, trust us.
This week one of the most exciting portfolios of natural wines available anywhere is coming to Massachusetts for the first time and we’ve got the drop on it! Selection Massale was established in 2010 by Sommeliers Guilhaume Gerard and Cory Cartwright in an effort to bring to the US the best natural wines from small producers working organic farms. Since then they’ve developed a kind of cult like following in the wine world. In fact, Cory was named one of Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of 2018, if that gives you any idea of how dope they are. We’ll have our friend and local distributor of Selection Massale Jen in to pour you beauties these beauties. Line-up to be announced soon! We’re so excited!
The Mucci brothers will be in the shop to show off one of their coolest new finds, Francesco Brigatti from Colline Novaresi. This man’s domaine is situated in the northernmost part of Piedmont nestled up in the mountains. Here they focus of Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Erbaluce, one of the coolest white in all of Italy. These wines are clean, precise, and represent and incredible band for your buck. We were stunned when we first tried them so we’re excited to now be able to bring them to you.
