Well this is going to be amazing! In preparation for Rose Day, hands down our favorite wine holiday, we’ve invited our friends over at Olmstead and Island Creek Oysters to come by and feed you Rose and Caviar just for the hell of it! Olmstead’s own ray of sunshine Brittney is bringing the Rose and the Pet Nat and the glou glou wines, while Lindsay, Island Creek’s resident caviar nerd, is brining the best caviar ICO’s got. This is definitely the most over the top, ostentatious, hedonistic party we’ve ever thrown and we can’t wait!

Tonight we celebrate one of the coolest, most real, most down to earth, and most excellent of winemakers, Guy Davis, by offering y’all a taste of the new vintages. If you know us, then you know we love Guy. This man has been making naturally vinified organic wines for years and his stuff just keeps getting better and better. We’ll have open some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, of course, but we’ll also be getting his incredible Zinfandel back and pouring some of his Method Champenoise single vineyard sparkling wine of Pinot Noir which most definitely basts most Champagne out of the water. Good wines and good vibes only!
Our good friend Andrew Tow, owner and proprietor at The Withers winery in Sonoma, is back to show off his amazing new wines. Andrew’s winery project is producing some of the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay out of California but as a member of the Rhone Rangers he’s also producing some of the best wines from Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre to come out of the state. It’s truly magical what he’s making happen so come meet the man behind the magic from 5-7 and get yourself a signed bottle to go!
Our man Jackson will be in to show off bottles from Mary Taylor and Old Westminster. This one’s all about duality and conflict in wine. While the Mary Taylor wines are classically styled, clean and pristine examples of what regional European wine is about, Old Westmister is bringing Pet Nats, Rose in a can, and Piquette all grown and made in the great state of Maryland. Tradition v. innovation, new v. old, modern v. classical. We’re loving all this drama!
This month were super excited to get to introduce you all to two of South Africa’s best and brightest young winemakers in person! On May 10th we’ll be having Boston’s own Ginny Povall, founder and winemaker at Botanica and Big Flower, and Thinus Kruger of Fram in the store and in the flesh to pour some of their best bottles for you.
Ginny and Thinus represent the best of what this young generation of winemakers are doing in South Africa. Like California, France, Australia, and Chile, a new breed of young winemakers are setting up shop and making wines that challenge our expectations when it comes to their region’s wines. For a long time, South Africa was thought of as a second-rate wine producing country where quality was lacking and conventional agriculture and winemaking reigned. All of that is changing with people like Ginny and Thinus who are taking advantage of the numerous old vineyards and applying a more holistic and hands-off approach to both farming and vinification. Their wines speak to the place and the grapes themselves. They demonstrate that South Africa has great terroir and that that terroir has a unique and special identity. You’ll find clarity and depth in the Chenin and Pinot Noir of Botanica and you’ll find complexity and definition in the Pinotage of Fram.

For lovers of great and authentic wines, California can sometimes feel like a wasteland of modified juice, inoculated fermentations, and conventional agriculture which is why people like Robert Sinskey are god damn heroes! This beautiful man has been cultivating 100% certified organic and biodynamic vineyards in Stags Leap and the Los Carneros districts of Napa and Sonoma Valleys for years now and producing tremendous juice in the meantime. The project focuses on Pinot Noirs, crazy delicious, effortlessly balanced Pinot Noirs that make your tastebuds sing, but they also produce some amazing specialties like a Ramato-style orange wine from Pinot Gris. That's right! Napa designated orange wine! And it's out of this world y'all! We'll be pouring that plus some of Bob's other amazing bottles all night so believe us when we say you'll not want to miss this one.
In the world of great wine importers there is one that really changed everything in the United States and it’s the Louis/Dressner portfolio of natural wines. Back before there really was a natural wine movement with all it’s buzzwords and instagram celebrity there we’re just a handful of people trying to introduce Americans to real-ass wine and some of the coolest stuff to ever hit the market came out of this book. We’ve been longtime fans of these beauties so we’re excited to have our man Frank (also a Dressner super fan) in to get excited and pour some world changing juice into your glass. The other week we're the graced with the charismatic presence of the young natural winemaker Jean Kreydenweiss and we were smitten. Jean's family runs two biodynamic domaines, one in Alsace and the other in Costieres de Nimes, where they produce wines with complexity, depth, balance, and tons of energy. We're super excited to get to show these beauties to you so we're bringing in the local importer of the Kreydenweiss wines to pour their bottles into your glass. Get refreshed!
In 2016 Michael Cruse was named Winemaker of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle for his innovative, novel, and delicious approach to winemaking in Napa and Sonoma. Famous internationally for his cult sparkling wine project Ultramarine, Michael Cruse has positioned himself on the avant garde of American winemaking. His Cruse Wine Co. label focuses on obscure grapes in Napa like Valdiguie and Tannat, grapes not often considered as great Napa wines. In his hands these varietals have found new expression and life. Our man Chas, the exclusive MA importer of Michael’s wines, will be in pouring his Napa Valdiguie, Monkey Jacket Red Blend, Rorick Heritage Vineyard Chardonnay, and his Napa Tannat. This week one of the most exciting portfolios of natural wines available anywhere is coming to Massachusetts for the first time and we’ve got the drop on it! Selection Massale was established in 2010 by Sommeliers Guilhaume Gerard and Cory Cartwright in an effort to bring to the US the best natural wines from small producers working organic farms. Since then they’ve developed a kind of cult like following in the wine world. In fact, Cory was named one of Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers of 2018, if that gives you any idea of how dope they are. The Mucci brothers will be in the shop to show off one of their coolest new finds, Francesco Brigatti from Colline Novaresi. This man’s domaine is situated in the northernmost part of Piedmont nestled up in the mountains. Here they focus of Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Erbaluce, one of the coolest white in all of Italy. These wines are clean, precise, and represent and incredible band for your buck. We were stunned when we first tried them so we’re excited to now be able to bring them to you.
The Loire Valley might be France’s most exciting wine region just because you always feel like there’s more to find, more unique pockets of vignerons doing something that you’ve never seen before. This month we take you to Saumur and Saumur Champigny in Anjou to explore the truly stunning wines of Arnaud Lambert. Smack dab in the center of the Loire Valley you’ll find him quietly leading a revolution in style and quality for the area’s Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. This man has been responsible for some of the best Cabernet Franc ever vinified having been the former winemaker at both Chateau de Breze, which be single handedly revitalized, and Clos Rougeard, the singular Grand Cru of Loire Cabernet Franc. Arnaud’s focus is on producing wines with great typicity, wines that express the specific terroir that they come from which is why he focuses on single vineyard bottlings. These are some of the most exciting wines being made in the Loire right now and we’re excited to get to share them with you. We’ll be offering the entire line from Mr. Lambert for 10% for the entire month of March as part of our Winery of the Month Series so you’ll be able to experience his inspiring wines at the best possible price.

Started by Hector and Pablo Durigutti in 2002 and based in Mendoza, the wines of the Durigutti estate mark a serious turning point in terroir expressive wines in Argentina. One of the most compelling projects that the brothers have embarked on is the Proyecto las Compuertas series of wines. In 2007 they purchased land in a specific department of Lujan de Cuyo called Las Compuertas which was filled with old vineyards of unique varietals. Here they source grapes to produce single vineyard wines of Criolla Parral (otherwise known as Mission or Pais), Cordisco (or Montepulciano), and a Malbec from a 100 year old plot. Argentine wine for too long has just been about geographically generic Malbec which is why we’re excited to share this series of wines with you. We'll be pouring these wines in the store from the 4th to the 6th between 5-7 plus these revolutionary wines will be on sale all month at 10% off so this is your chance to get to know the new Mendoza at the best price.
Our bud Casey is not only one of the hippest cats we know he’s also an amazing organ player, a dominos assassin, and a wine geek extraordinaire. He’ll be by to show off his beautiful collection of American wineries that are pushing the envelope and changing people’s perception of what American wine is all about. He’ll be taking us on a cruise through Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, and Long Island, pouring delicious juice along the way. If you’ve got the winter blues, Casey’s got the cure.
There’s a new name in the MA natural wine game and it’s Bon Raisin. Recently established by Christopher Nelmes, based in Paris and owner of Supergrape Wines, and Mark Firth, Chef/Owner of Great Barrington’s gem like restaurant Prairie Whale, they’re bringing some of France’s most innovating young winemakers to MA. All of their wines come from small environmentally conscientious wineries producing ‘vin naturel’, which, as they say, are “for the layman wino, means nothing added, nothing taken away.” This wines are teaming with life and energy and we’ve got the new crop in house. We’re excited to have them here and we’re even more excited to be sharing them with you.
The Holidays are upon us and we’re in need of relief! That’s why we’re bringing in some our favorite people to pour two of our most comforting and XMAS dinner friendly wines. Our dood Vic Zelinsky will be back to introduce a brand new winery to the market, Eden Rift. These wines are made in the Cienega Valley right smack dab on the San Andreas Fault and boy are they ever delicious. You’d be smart to check this one out.

The wines of Brendan Tracey have just hit the market for the first time so we’re going to have our wine hipster buddy Christy in to put these wines in your face! New Jersey native turned Francophile ex-pat Brendan Tracey has been making natural wines in the Loire with a punk rock edge after falling in love and running away to France. The dude is the definition of cool and a leading face of the natural winemaking movement in France. We’ll be spinning punk discs and blowing your mind with natty juice from 5-7
Last time Andrea showed up she was pouring a 1997 old vine single vineyard Friulano from the best white wine maker in Italy and you probably missed out. Don’t make that mistake again because this woman is constantly bringing by crazy beautiful wines and she’ll be back on October 5th!
